Computational Fluid Dynamics

Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) is computer-based numerical modeling of fluid flow. CFD, by numerically solving the governing equations for fluid flow, provides information regarding fluid flow, pressure, temperature, turbulence intensity, moisture, and contaminant concentration dispersion. Complex behavior can be clearly visualized making the identification of potential problems and design improvements a more efficient process. Applications are numerous and include:

  • Indoor Air Quality, thermal comfort, and building system energy efficiency
  • Plume dispersion modeling
  • Modeling of air flow over surfaces for diverse purposes such as maintain shield gas integrity for welding, maintain works of art, and numerous other applications
  • Modeling stresses on submerged lines in waterways
  • Various mixing applications
  • Modeling burner air/fuel ratio for minimizing NOx is exhaust gas
  • Sizing catalyst beds, locating of urea nozzles for SNCR, modeling burner placement for emissions quality improvement
