Landfill Gas to Energy Project – Las Vegas, Nevada

Location: APEX Landfill; Las Vegas, Nevada
Date Completed: 2011

Project Scope

Venture was contracted to provide its patent pending Biogas Conditioning System
to improve the quality of the Landfill Gas at the APEX Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE) facility. The LFGTE facility will use approximately 5,000 scfm of landfill gas to produce approximately 12MW of power using two (2) Solar Taurus 60 Gas Turbine Generators. The Biogas Conditioning System will remove landfill gas contaminants including NMOCs, Siloxanes and moisture, prior to combustion in the turbines. These contaminants are harmful to all combustion devices as well as post combustion environmental control system catalysts (i.e., CO and SCRs). The Biogas Conditioning System at this facility includes our standard, high pressure, two vessel regenerable Gas Conditioning Skid and a carbon polishing skid.

The carbon polishing skid is used to assure long term, high siloxane removal efficiencies. The carbon polishing skid will operate in a lead / lag manner using manual valves and will only be used a few months of a year.
